If the “Swift-lift” taught us anything this year, it’s that seeing a favorite artist perform live in a different city is prime motivation to book a trip. That was one of the findings in our second annual music survey, results below.
Music Matters to These Travelers

As expected, music is a big part of the respondents’ lives. More than half (54%) rated their interest in music a 10 (out of 10) and 86% rated it an 8 or above, roughly the same as last year.

Of the 1081 respondents, 95% have taken a trip specifically to see live music, and “seeing my favorite artist in a different city” was the main reason to book a trip (same as last year).
People Travel For Their Favorite Artists (Think: Swift-lift)

Also driving factors in trip planning were local music scenes (26%) and, of course, music festivals (14%).
64% Traveled 1-5 Times in Past Year
Though, the results of the survey suggest booking a trip to see your favorite artist is likely considered more of a special premium event. Forty-three percent of respondents said they traveled for music just once or twice in the past year and another 21% traveled three-to-five times.
28% Didn’t Take A Trip For Music, Up 10%
The number of people who didn’t travel for music in the past year was up 10% from 18% in 2023 to 28% in 2024, according to our survey. The number of travelers who took at trip once or twice was up 3% (from 40% last year to 43% in 2024) while those who took trips three-to-five times was down 10% (from 31% last year to 21% this year).
