A Guide to Taylor Swift’s Favorite Restaurants in America

BY Hilary Harty | October 21, 2023

Fresh off a whirlwind tour that literally boosted the American economy, Taylor Swift has reached Beyoncé, even Beatles, levels of stardom. In fact, if you spend an afternoon scrolling through the comment section of TikTok videos comparing the musicians, you’ll get a front-row ticket to just how committed Swifties are to the “1989” songstress. Swift has a stranglehold on virtually anyone who has been put through the romantic ringer — or who is fantasizing about their school’s homecoming dance.

After 10 studio albums, not including three re-recorded albums, and almost 20 years in the music industry, Swift’s concert film “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” was released in theaters on October 13 for fans who needed another hit of live(ish) music from America’s favorite “Anti-Hero.” Since there’s now a pseudo-documentary about Swift’s tour life and professors could teach a college course on who she’s dated, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to round up a list of some of Taylor’s favorite places to chow down in between performing for crowded arenas and smooching hunks. From buzzy Manhattan eateries to lesser-known gems in the Music City, the spots on our list have a “Reputation” of being some of Taylor Swift’s favorite restaurants in America.

Etch (Nashville)

303 Demonbreun St, Nashville, TN 37201, USA

Helmed by chef Deb Paquette, Etch is an upscale downtown Nashville eatery that integrates flavors from around the globe. Taylor’s been known to scarf down their roasted cauliflower with truffled accoutrements. Reserve a table for your next special occasion and dine on the octopus and shrimp bruschetta, pan-seared scallops and signature Etch salad made with arugula, radicchio, fennel, green apple, bleu cheese, hazelnuts, candied orange peel and champagne vinaigrette.

Fido (Nashville)

1812 21st Ave S, Nashville, TN 37212, USA

The “Fearless” singer dubbed the Hillsboro Village coffee shop as her favorite and orders a nonfat caramel latte each time she visits. The organic coffee bar sells coffee drinks made with Bongo Java fair trade beans and has been slinging lattes since 1996. After you polish off your drink, stick around and order something from their all-day breakfast menu like the Fido Scramble made with spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, roasted red onions and feta, or take a bag of coffee beans to go.

In-N-Out Burger

In-N-Out Burger (multiple locations)

7009 Sunset Blvd, Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA 90028, USA

You don’t really need Taylor Swift’s endorsement to pull into the In-N-Out drive-thru, but knowing that the “Red” singer orders classics like cheeseburgers, fries and chocolate shakes comes in handy if you’re not sure what to order. In-N-Out is the undisputed king of the California-style burger, a simple handheld stacked with fresh vegetables and perfectly cooked patties. We recommend ordering your burger and fries “Animal Style,” served with a mustard-cooked patty, pickle, grilled onions and extra spread. Add chopped chiles if you can take the heat.

Koi main dining in the New York City location.

Koi (multiple locations)

40 W 40th St, New York, NY 10018, USA

This restaurant has locations in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York, where the certified lover girl is a die-hard fan of the double tuna roll and has been quoted saying it “would be all I ever ate for the rest of my life if I had the option.” Elsewhere on the menu, Taylor loves to order the “She’s So LA” roll (which coincidentally is only available at their L.A. outpost) and the glazed green beans. Pair all that with a smart cocktail and expect to see “Sparks Fly.”

Cookies from Levain Bakery.

Levain Bakery (New York)

Levain Bakery – Original Location, 74th St, NYC, West 74th Street, New York, NY, USA

Tay Tay is not shy about her love of dessert, admitting that her sweet tooth has led her time and time again to Levain Bakery, which started in New York City in 1995. Known for massive ooey-gooey chocolate chip and walnut cookies, Swift has extolled the virtues of leaving with a box of the freshly baked goodies, likening it to a fortuitous experience. If you can’t justify a trip to any of the eight New York locations (seven in NYC, one in Montauk) there are also locations now in Bethesda, Maryland; Boston; Chicago; Washington D.C. and, most recently, L.A. Plus, frozen cookies are sold at Whole Foods nationwide.

Locanda Verde (New York)

Locanda Verde, Greenwich Street, New York, NY, USA

The “Look What You Made Me Do” singer has made us dream about cozying up to a meal at Locanda Verde. Located in Tribeca, a neighborhood where Taylor allegedly owns multiple properties, the Greenwich Hotel eatery is helmed by chef Andrew Carmellini; he churns out dishes like steak tartare piemontese with Wagyu beef, hazelnuts and black truffle alongside pastas like “My Grandmother’s Ravioli.”

The Pancake Pantry

The Pancake Pantry (Nashville)

1796 21st Ave S, Nashville, TN 37212, USA

The Pancake Pantry is one of those Nashville institutions that Music City natives have been crooning about since its inception back in 1961. With locations in downtown Nashville and Hillsboro, Tenn., the eatery is known for its from-scratch pancake batter, syrups and fruit compotes made daily. With over 14 different pancakes on the menu, it can be hard to choose, but Taylor opts for the sweet potato pancakes covered in powdered sugar and cinnamon every time she visits. If Swift is in town and you’re itching to catch a glimpse of her chowing down, head to the Hillsboro Village location.

The Polo Bar (New York)

The Polo Bar, East 55th Street, New York, NY, USA

Ralph Lauren’s Midtown Manhattan institution was an instant celebrity hot spot as soon as it opened. If you live in New York or are just visiting, plan to make a reservation well in advance if you want to snag a table at the buzzy, equestrian-themed eatery. Swift once hosted a “fancy dress-up girls’ night” with pals Gigi Hadid, Martha Hunt, Ashley Avignone and Karlie Kloss at The Polo Bar and is fond of the Reuben sandwich here — a favorite of owner Ralph Lauren as well.

Shake Shack (multiple locations)

Shake Shack West Hollywood - Santa Monica & La Cienega, Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA, USA

Legend has it that when Taylor Swift first hung out with her now-friend Lorde (of “Royals” fame), the two walked to a Shake Shack close to the “Bad Blood” singer’s hotel and got to know one another over burgers, fries and shakes. Since then, Taylor has been a fan of their beloved burgers and crinkle-cut fries. We recommend trying the special burger local to the Shake Shack in your town and, hear us out, opt for their non-dairy chocolate shake, which is somehow creamier than its lactose-laden counterpart.

Via Carota (New York)

Via Carota, Grove Street, New York, NY, USA

If you’re anything like us, you may or may not (but definitely do) spend at least half an hour each Sunday scrolling through Deux Moi to see where celebrities have been spotted the previous week, and you’ve likely heard about Via Carota — an Italian eatery so beloved by celebrities that people come here just to ogle. Taylor has been seen dining at the West Village restaurant on multiple occasions, most recently with friend and actress Sophie Turner. Pro tip: The restaurant is walk-in only, so come early or late, lest ye be standing in a long queue to be told there’s a two-hour wait. Though the watermelon and feta is worth the wait.

The Waverly Inn (New York)

Waverly Inn, Bank Street, New York, NY, USA

Like peanut butter and jelly or spaghetti and meatballs, Taylor Swift and The Waverly Inn are one iconic pairing. Located in Manhattan’s West Village, the cozy, albeit seriously high-end restaurant is one of Taylor’s favorite places to visit while in the Big Apple. The blonde bombshell has been seen eating dinner with friends Phoebe Bridgers, Lena Dunham and Dakota Johnson on multiple occasions and was spotted here fresh from her break-up with Tom Hiddleston back in 2016. There’s a lot to devour here, like the extravagantly truffle-topped mac and cheese and slow-roasted duck breast, but fans of the establishment visit time and time again for their famous Waverly Inn Chicken Pot Pie.

Wokcano (Los Angeles)

Wokcano, West 7th Street, Los Angeles, CA, USA

After a night of craning your neck to see if you can catch a glimpse of celebrities, head to one of Wokcano’s six locations in the L.A. area, where you can indulge in Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Taylor comes here for the orange crispy chicken (a favorite on the menu) and vegetable fried rice, two dishes the singer would die without, allegedly. If you’re interested in their Japanese-leaning offerings, order the hot and spicy hamachi with scallions, jalapeños and garlic ponzu sauce.
