See a Piece of Presidential History

If early U.S. history is your cup of tea, you can discover Galena’s presidential claim to fame by visiting the home of our 18th president, Ulysses S. Grant. In August of 1865, Galena welcomed its Civil War hero General Ulysses S. Grant home with a parade and beautifully furnished Italianate-style home. While he was elected president in 1868 and only visited Galena occasionally after that, you can still experience the home as it was in the 1860s today.
