Winter Wineland returns in early 2024 to Northern California for its 31st year, dragging the festive spirit into January with a bottle opener. Once the holiday season is behind you, grab five of your closest wine friends and a designated driver — you’re gonna need them — for a self-guided tour through the too-many-to-count wineries of Sonoma County. Looking to restock your wine rack for the new year (or maybe just for January)? Want to slow-sip and eat your way through Sonoma County, one of the closest things Americans have to Italy, right up there with California’s Central Coast? Really love secular winter-themed decor because the holidays are the only time of year you experience real joy? This festival has all of the above. With over 60 wineries participating this year, you can leave your half-hearted attempt at dry January in the dust.
After choosing a starting point, you’re handed six bottles of wine and a map of participating wineries. A minimum of three wines will be offered to taste at each location, with many more to buy and take with you on the road. With a provided wine glass in hand, you can design your own winery hop around your own interests and time constraints; no one likes being rushed by a tour guide, especially when you’re drinking. And if you purchase tickets before Nov. 30, you can get the early bird price of $85.
Pro tip: Register early for your check-in winery of choice, each winery has a fifty-person cap on check-ins.

FAQs
Where is the nearest airport?

Are other transportation options available?
Transportation between wineries is not provided. Buses will not be allowed into winery parking lots, renting a car if necessary is the recommended form of transportation.
Where does Winter Wineland take place?
The event doesn’t take place at one location, it’s more of a crawl. You travel from winery to winery, and you choose the ones you want to visit. The participating wineries are located throughout Northern Sonoma County, in Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, Windsor, Guerneville, Forestville, Sebastopol, Cloverdale and Geyserville.
What is Wine Road Northern Sonoma County?
Wine Road is a tourism association that promotes the wine industry in Northern Sonoma County. The association includes more than 200 wineries and 50 lodgings throughout the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River valleys. It hosts three major events a year: Winter Wineland every January (the one you’re reading about right now), Barrel Tasting in March, and Wine & Food Affair in November.
Is there a cap on group sizes?
Large groups of 8 or more may not be accommodated at every winery.
It’s my first time attending. What can I expect?
This can be considered a perfect winter escape to a part of America that’s akin to a trip to Italy. Over the two days, Wine Road wineries open their tasting rooms and attendees will have the opportunity to meet winemakers, join some wine clubs and, of course, taste current vintages, limited production bottles and new releases. Your ticket will allow wine tasting at all participating wineries. Note: This is not a food pairing event.
I’m hungover. Can I get a refund?
This event is nonrefundable.
