Wormtown Trading Company is a local icon in Massachusetts, known for their chain of bohemian stores and their pop-up booths at festivals around New England. So when the beloved brand produces a music festival like StrangeCreek Campout, you can bet you’ll find plenty of tie-dye, beaded hair and hula hoops.
With over 50 artists lined up across three stages, StrangeCreek’s musical offerings span several stylings, from hard rock to acoustic, but most fall into the Grateful Dead’s family of groovy, electric guitar jam bands. Think Phish or The String Cheese Incident. This year’s headliners are Hot Buttered Rum, Badfish and Rubblebucket. Past performers have included Jahman Brahman, The Infamous Stringdusters and Marco Benevento.
StrangeCreek Campout tickets come with primitive camping included. Porta-potties and showers are available onsite, but be sure to bring a flashlight and bug spray for those late-night trips to the bathroom. The festival grounds at Camp Kee-wanee are densely wooded and rustic.
Just because you’re camping doesn’t mean you have to subsist on trail mix, though. The festival brings together more than a dozen vendors serving everything from pizza to veggie bowls, so you can refuel after all that hula hooping.
Oh, and Jimi Hendrix headbands are, in fact, optional.
