Despite severe storms last year that forced organizers to ultimately postpone the spring festival to the end of August, Sol Blume was a solid hit, with a 13% increase in attendance. This year, Sol Blume continues to scale up operations — the now three-day festival will have more food options, a new General Admissions Plus pass level, bigger stages and the return of Sol Skate, where you can grab headphones and skate to the work of a live DJ.
After having to cancel their set last year, Partynextdoor returns to the Sacramento festival, joined by headliners SZA, Snoh Aalegra and the recently formed duo Kaytraminé (from rapper Aminé and producer Kaytranada). As wide as the umbrella of R&B can be, Sol Blume’s lineup covers everything from the smooth saxophone vocals of Masego to the breezier, fluttering neo-soul sounds of UMI, whose recent single featured V of BTS.
Beyond the two stages of music, there’s something at every step and turn of this massive venue. Explore the interactive art installations which are sure to be just as big and brightly colored as last year, perfect for your Instagram shots; reconnect with nature in the butterfly village where you might have some small winged friends land on you; and recharge your energy with movement and meditation workshops.
It also seems like organizers took complaints to heart and addressed some of the logistical issues that plagued attendees in previous years. Reports from 2022 tell of hour-long wait times for entry and food, but improvements last year, namely increased staffing and vendors have Redditors hoping that Sol Blume organizers are getting their act together. The festival still doesn’t have single-day passes but promises even more food and drink options in 2024. Organizers have also gotten rid of third party platforms for a better ticket buying experience and eliminated the credit check requirement for payment plans.
