If TLC has taught me anything, it’s that Americans love two things: food and beauty pageants. By default, that means SoCal Taco Fest has it all: a seemingly unlimited amount of white tents filled with different kinds of tacos, a “massive margarita cantina,” and the pitting of a well-dressed chihuahua against an even better-dressed chihuahua. And because dogs can’t speak (yet) there’s no childhood trauma involved, only adorable Instagram stories to be taken.
At SoCal Taco Fest in San Diego, the best of southern California’s many tacos and restaurants are represented, with 2024’s vendors yet to be announced. Between the tacos, desserts, and mix of beers and margs available to try, you can eat your way through a whole day without even thinking about entertainment. Despite this, the festival will host musical acts on two different stages throughout the day, chihuahua races and live wrestling. You’re just going to be glad it’s not you getting tackled after slurping down your tenth soupy birria taco. It’s not so much The Iron Claw as it is The Cheesy Claw, but the Lucha Libre All-Stars will perform throughout the day.
