This year’s Shiprocked cruise is really leaning into midlife crisis energy with its theme Retro Paradise. If seeing the calendar shift to 2025 also fills you with gut-wrenching terror, Shiprocked 2025 says “Give us ’85 and some Rock & Roll to feel alive,” and they stand by that.
Starting in Miami, the ship stops in St. Thomas, USVI and then Half Moon Cay, in the Bahamas before heading back to Florida. Between stops, Shiprocked is truly a classic rock music festival at sea, with over 30 acts performing on board. This year, the festival will be headlined by Australian metalcore band Parkway Drive, who celebrated twenty years as a band last year. Other big acts include The Struts (whose sound is delightfully similar to that of 80’s glam rockers like Queen and Def Leppard), Nothing More, Hollywood Undead, The Stowaways and more, all of which range from rock to metal.
Beyond the music, there’s plenty of what Shiprocked calls “bitchin’ fun” onboard, including events hosted by artists and themed nights, most of which will center around 80s culture this year. Some examples of themes include prom night and best of 80s TV and movies. If the 80s wasn’t your decade (we’ve all had bad haircuts) or you weren’t old enough to feel nostalgia for the word dude, there are plenty of typical cruise ship activities to indulge in between concerts as well. After all, mini-golf is metal as hell.
