Just an hour’s drive north of Los Angeles and tucked away in the Ventura County hills, the Ojai Wine Festival has the breezy, boozy California weekend down to a science. Each year on the third weekend of June, 4,000 people kick off summer with their fair share of local and imported wine from over 30 wineries, hard kombucha and seltzer. The tastings are unlimited and balanced by a lineup of gourmet food trucks. This year, Santa Barbara dance band Area 51 will be keeping the good vibes going while Garagiste Vintners and award-winning wineries keep the drinks flowing around Lake Casitas.
While attending this non-profit event, you not only get to drink all day, but drink for a good cause. Over the past 35 years, the Ojai Wine Festival has raised over $1.4 million for Rotary Community Service Projects, including international women’s and children’s health, low-income families, educational grants and scholarships, and literacy programs. Proceeds from the festival’s silent auction and ticket sales go directly towards supporting these causes. The official wine list has not yet been released, but will be posted leading up to the festival.
