Born as a warehouse party in 1991, EDC ran for a few years before getting picked up by Insomniac, a music promoter and distribution company. Since then, it has multiplied. With locations in Las Vegas, Orlando and Mexico City, EDC has claimed its spot as North America’s largest electronic music festival. All the EDCs are blowouts, but EDC Las Vegas is its crown jewel. This year, the Vegas theme is Kinetic Awakening, emphasizing movement and rebirth. Take that as you will.
EDC Las Vegas will host over 230 performers at its upcoming 2023 run, with big-name artists like David Guetta, Marshmello, Galantis and Tiesto hitting the nine themed stages. Visit Kinetic Field, a temple-esque stage decorated with statues of owl guardians and Gaia, to witness a perplexing combination of spirituality and raves. Or, check out Bionic Jungle, a smaller jungle-themed stage focused on house artists. It’s like Animal Kingdom, but with bass.
You’re here for the music, but this EDC Las Vegas is also the “ultimate Instagram influencer playground.” Between 360 light displays, a glowing ferris wheel and ultra-large art installations like towering mushrooms and neon caterpillars, this festival is Wonderland on LSD.
The celebrations don’t need to wait until the 19th, though. The week up to and including the festival, dubbed EDC week, has a slew of pool parties and nightclub events DJed by EDC artists — because sometimes, three days isn’t enough time.
