Once a year, the who’s who of the art world descend upon Art Basel Week in Miami to leer at each other from under their Tom Ford glasses. Art With Me is the antithesis of that experience. Scheduled to coincide with the pretentious Art Basel fair downtown, Art With Me is like the shaggy, sandalwood-smelling twin brother who sells his sketches on a rug outside the gallery. In other words, this music and art festival is where the real fun happens.
Art With Me started off in Tulum, Mexico in 2018 and quickly expanded its satellite events to include Turkey and Miami. Despite the name, its focus isn’t on painting or sculpture narrowly, but on an expansive conception of the word “art,” which includes things like edible fruit altars, kite-flying, cuddle puddles, drum circles, body painting and immersive, VR-enabled digital creations. And while all of this takes place only 10 minutes from downtown Miami, its secluded location on Virginia Key Beach ensures that revelers might as well be on another planet–Pandora, maybe, or wherever Bjork comes from.
Of course, no three day beach party would be complete without a host of EDM, house and psytrance acts to get people moving. Previous years’ lineups have included Jamie XX, Moderat, Elderbrook and Big Wild.
